The expansion of the world’s largest trade pact was in focus with a recent round of ministerial meetings1. The expansion came amid a range of other global geoeconomic datapoints2. These included the closely watched economic outcomes in areas such as artificial intelligence and trade emerging out of the recent round of U.S.-China summitry as well as the management of Black Sea global supply chain disruptions in what was termed a “dangerous new phase” of the Russia-Ukraine war during the latest iteration of United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week meetings3.

The focus came alongside other regional economic developments. Southeast Asian representatives participated to varying degrees in the China-ASEAN Expo in Nanning ahead of other engagements Beijing convened this past week including the Global Digital Trade Expo in Hangzhou4.
